I use Lycos Tripod (UK) service - it has PHP and MySQL for free. Only problem sometime is speed. Tripod.lycos.co.uk I'm really hoping for something in North America, for the reason of speed, but I'll considder Tripod (UK), if I can't find anything else. Its better than Tripod in the US (where my si...

Webhost suggestions?

Ok, here's the scenario:

I want to start a small video gaming website with some of my friends. I need a suggestion for a host that has one of the following sets of features (and of course is free):

PHP and MySQL
or
CGI (with CHMOD command available in FTP).

Any suggestions?

When using MinGW, there's a bit of a trick to get it to work right, i'll try to get my MinGW build script back up on my site, and I'll post it here then.

Coder's Cable - $20-$30 BBA/LA - Expensive (more than $70). Personally, I just use CD-Rs for my test stuff. And if you're going to stay with windows 98, MinGW is the way to go. Cygwin cannot build the C++ compilers on win98, but MinGW/MSYS can. If you need any help getting MinGW set up, just tell me...

I've never looked at stella, so I just take this from a general point of view. Generally speaking, if a program has no Assembler code, it can be ported fairly easilly (still no little task tho). If a program has parts of assembler code, you could still port it, but you would have to rewrite those pa...

Well, I can tell you that you probably are not going to get very far in making "ZSNESDC". The reason I say this (and the reason ZSNES is so fast) is that it is written completely in assembler, meaning that you would have to completely rewrite all of the code to get it to work on the dc. As...

Yes you can leave the disc open and just write the new stuff to it (and if your stuff is small enough you can do this about 40 times!). You can find a tutorial if you go to the DCemu homepage, and do a news search for demomenu.

Yup, just pick one of the GND pins (there's 3 I think), and there's where you want it. Good luck.

Ground, but how will you solder it directly, you'll at least need to run wires if you want it to be in the same place. (or anywhere visible)

I'll work out a few bugs in my script then I'll put it up. And to tell you the truth, I don't know how to do it with dev-c++ yet, so, when I get some time (i.e. maybe this weekend) I'll work that out. Thanks for your input. Oh and BTW the script in its current state requires the MSYS-DTK (for cvs) p...

were you in the build-sh-gcc directory, and if so did you run the configure command first? I don't know why it would fail otherwise. The tutorial I put up is actually an adaptation of a script I wrote, if you all would rather just use the script, I can put it back up on my website later on. What do ...

Have you tried getting MSYS and using the Dev-C++ compiler with it? I had no trouble with MSYS and the MinGW compiler (which is in Dev-C++) Just make sure that you use either GCC 3.0.4 or 3.0.3 (3.1, 3.1.1, 3.2 break stuff) and Binutils 2.11.2 (Binutils 2.12 + break sound in KOS). Also, what exactly...

Saturn has: 2x SH2 (main CPU, for game logic processing etc) 1x M68k (sound CPU, for processing sound effects etc) 1x DSP (not sure what kind but it could do a lot of math stuff fast) 1x .... (CD controller CPU) 2x VDP (one for foreground -> sprites, polys, one for background) If I'm not mistaken, ...

First of all, Go with KOS, it has plenty of source-code examples to get you going, and it's actually updated (libdream is not anymore). To start developing for DC with KOS, do the following: First learn C or C++ (C's easier). I'd recomend getting a version of the GNU toolchain for Windows (Either cy...
