Re: Howcome no one has made a internet cable for dreamcast?
Ouch. I assumed it was using a synchronous serial mode at ~500 Kbps or thereabouts.

Re: Howcome no one has made a internet cable for dreamcast?
I'm pretty sure I've seen SPI Ethernet chips, but they probably expect to be on a 10-20MHz SPI bus. Even if they could work at DC serial port speeds, I think performance wouldn't be very good. IIRC, they're intended for things like low-throughput polling of sensors and the like (e.g. replacing RS-42...

Re: Trading PS3 slim for 60gb?
I have a US launch 60GB model. It had some problems once (seemed like a flaky HDD to me; a game was taking way too long to load, as were XMB icons) but they went away and haven't recurred since.

If it's exactly as you posted, it's definitely wrong. Indentation is syntactically significant in Makefiles, and must be done with actual tab characters. I don't think it's possible to post this on the forum, as the forum software will convert tabs to spaces even in a code block.

Who was this actually addressed to? You? Your web host? Your web host's ISP? Your domain registrar? Anyway, I personally think it's nonsense (a game console per se is not a copyrighted work), but the big question is whether you're prepared to risk having to argue in court that it's nonsense or at le...

Re: Playing Onimusha Warlords
The idea that Nobunaga was a demon or involved with demons doesn't even qualify as a "twist" anymore, sort of like the Nazis being involved with demons/the occult. I don't think the demons are supposed to be shinigami. They're essentially killing people for reasons of amusement and greed, ...

Re: PS3 Price Drop
You can run into some snags, though, since some games expect/require motion control and most pads also don't have a "PS button".

Re: PS3 Price Drop
Yeah, Sony pads always felt a bit wrong to me. It's like they wanted to clone the SNES pad, but needed to add their own special fuckups in order to own it. Also, I noticed that newer DS2 pads seem to feel a bit cheaper than the old ones. It might just be my imagination, I guess.

Re: PS3 Price Drop
IIRC, they're also introducing a new hardware rev (rumored to be "hack-proof", though the scene has a tendency to say that about every new hardware rev); the combo of price cut and low stock might be an attempt to clear out the old stuff.

Re: AppleCare remains the best damn warranty ever.
That's pretty much the standard meaning of "lifetime warranty" anymore. AFAIK, the FTC says that companies can basically make it mean whatever they want as long as they specify which "lifetime" they're referring to. Also, I'm pretty sure that their normal warranty period still ap...

Re: AppleCare remains the best damn warranty ever.
Both of my XFX AMD Radeon 6970s came with a free lifetime warranty. Meaning if in 4 years they fail, and of course aren't in production anymore, I get the modern equivalent. That's pretty awesome. By "lifetime" they mean the life cycle of the product, not the lifespan of the customer. If ...

Re: Dreamcast 2 Launch Details
It is the Dreamcast 4. Naomi is the arcade version of Dreamcast. Therefore Naomi 2 implies a Dreamcast 2 generation. Therefore Atomiswave, the Dreamcast derivative that succeeded Naomi 2, implies a Dreamcast 3 generation. Therefore the next Dreamcast generation is Dreamcast 4. The above is no more r...

I wouldn't be surprised to see something from one of Sony's own studios that requires it (or requires it to get anything like the full experience, a la DDR and dance pads). I just don't think anyone else will bother using it as anything except an optional extra. Tingle Tuner, anyone?

They did? The website still shows the lower price as a "Not sold in stores" pre-order.

Re: PS Vita feature announced:
This is no contest: Wii U developers can assume that the Wii U controller is there, design the game around it, and make its use mandatory with no problems. PS3 developers can't safely do the same with PS Vita. Whatever the potential, the vast majority of developers won't be in a position to properly...

Re: bitmaster's IDE/G2 interface aka DREAMCAST HARD DRIVE>!!!
I meant that you'd run the chip select from the BIOS, not put the piggybacked chip in the Flash address space. You'd just be using the flash to get at the address/data/OE/WE pins. Come to think of it, though, I'm not sure it would be the same footprint for a decently sized Flash chip. It's been a wh...

Re: bitmaster's IDE/G2 interface aka DREAMCAST HARD DRIVE>!!!
IIRC, it would more likely piggyback onto the Flash chip rather than the BIOS ROM, since you want a Flash pinout and not a mask ROM pinout (they're usually different because of /WE vs. an extra address pin).
