Re: Setting up for DcDev, needs advice.

As for using an integrated development environment (IDE), someone did get things working with Code::Blocks at some point in the past, although I have no experience with that. For example I did. And it's working. Even more: I settled up a post build script, which converts binary and game resources i...

Re: 3D Z Clipping For the PVR + OpenGL

Sizious, You better list libraries that work and compile on Dreamcast.
Last time I tried to build a CubicVr it failed. Same for Iris3D.

Dreamcast Coders Cable

I'm sorry to arise this topic again; google didn't cause much help too, but maybe any of you know where one can buy a coders cable for DC?
E-shops selling them are now closed or out of the stock, so I didn't find any source where I can buy it.
Any ideas maybe?

Re: Game engines?

I heard of Fenix Engine, but looks like it's only for 2D and not supported anymore (not sure on the last pint, you better checkout).
About Game engines giving the capability to act in 3d, nah, didn't heard of 'em.

Re: Looking for technical PSO information

Always wondered what this stuff for:

Code: Select all

uint32_t grave_coords_time[5];
            char grave_team[20];
            char grave_message[24];
in v2_player struct.

What would you guys do if the Shenmue and Shenmue 2 engines were cracked or released?
Probably nothing, until you have enough curiosity or interest to mess with that mammoth shit.

Re: Best GNU tools versions for KallistiOS 2.0.0

You know, BlueCrab, for all the times I tried, I had never been able to built dc-chain just in one sit on a Cygwin. It was always errors, something not working, manually adapting \ fixing the scripts.

Re: Best GNU tools versions for KallistiOS 2.0.0

You don't need to download it by yourself or use some scripts from dc-chain folder. Everything is much simpler. As from official GCC wiki [http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/InstallingGCC]: See Installing GCC: Prequisites for the software required to build GCC. If you do not have the GMP, MPFR and MPC support ...

So what special about this intro? I think that intro was a standard on all versions of Dreamcast PSO when you first start an offline mode game?

Re: porting ps2 games to dreamcast

Depending on the way they was written. If they was written in some open-source, wide-known to public, and ported to many platforms crossplatform and opensource high-level C or C++ libraries which are agnostic of hardware, well, maybe, answer would be "probably", in terms of time and effort...

Re: Starting Coding again (AtariOwl)

It may seem odd, but remember where i'm coming from. On the Jaguar, those were the facts of life.Everything was done from scratch, no OS at all, essentially no libraries. Coded in ASM. And every byte had to be fought for. I think that on Dreamcast situation didn't changed drastically. You have a 16...

Who the hell would even care about them, not to mention all that licensing crap, when particularly at this moment almost 15 y...

So the dreamcast wouldn't be able to have a game(rpg for example) with 5 million polygons with effects added ? This would be impossible right?
Yeah, something like that.
