Slackware Linux review
I switched to slackware a while ago, and Im convinced that it's awesome... not the easiest to set up if you have special hardware (i.e. winmodems -- a PITA to compile ltmodem, and there are no slack compatible packages... Only version 6 [very old] seems to work...). However, the system itself is tot...

It might be because your burning it at a fast speed? try burning it at 4x or lower... 1x for optimal performance... if other disks are working fine, then it HAS to be the disk in some way... try going to http://www.dcemulation.org (this site) and download a new image, reburn it, and use your ROMs, i...

well, to shorten things up, everything in the first ifconfig and route worked fine... no errors... as for cat /etc/resolv.conf, the Domain is set to example.org, I set it to that, as there IS NO top level domain for my machine, though this shouldnt be causing a problem... now, here's where things ar...

can't connect to remote hosts (http, ftp, etc.)
I can dial out and connect to the web using 'pppd connect wvdial' or simply 'wvdial', and it WILL successfully connect. However, when I try and go to a site, it can't connect the the host. I can't transfer any kind of data that isn't locally hosted on my machine... Anyone have any idea what the prob...

Seriously though, I've seen your post history. And no offense, but you commonly take on projects far greater than your skill. I don't want to offend you or anything, I would just like it if you would start smaller and build your way up. yeah, I know... but Id like to claify this -- I ended up recod...

I made a really nice sonic themed DC... it has a circular sonic thingy I found (made by SEGA or some other company) glued unto it where the DC logo was, and is painted metallic blue. the buttons and controller faceplate are painted metallic silver. it came out fairly well, but the paint is a BIT dar...

How would I code a small (not even a real) OS?
not sure if this belongs here but.... Ok, I know Im leagues away from making a usable OS, but thats not what I want to do! I just need to learn how to make a modular OS kernel (not linux, or anything already existing). all it has to do is be able to take a line of user prompt, show a menu, and possi...

I know Ive asked this before, but I just cant figure it out :P... what type of hardware to Linux OSs run best on?
Im far from getting enough money to build a PC, but when I finally do find a job and earn it, what hardware should I use? I want to make a pure linux box, meant only for that... no windows/dos... once I get the $$$ im into spending anywhere from $500-$1000. I know that it'll be a LOOONG time before ...
