Re: good place to buy replacement motor/laser unit?

Probably nowhere it'd be affordable. I'd say try one of those cd-rom replacement guides out there, but that'd exclude running original gd-rom discs. The other option would be installing a bios mod in conjunction with dreamshell, and sd adapter. Both of the above solutions are hardware based though. ...

Re: NesterDC SE: Master Library locally mirrored

Yes, it's only grabbing the NSF files for some reason. Site updates corrupting the database? I don't know. I went to look for an old thread over at the dreamzone boards where I believe DCDaydreamer had posted a link to the entire library, but it appears the site has been down for some time. Consider...

Re: FAQ or tutorial for burning multiple BOR on one disc ??

I don't think that that's the way most homebrew projects work. It was just a suggestion. I find the lavalit site layout kinda confusing, so you may try to find out if if they use some kind of tracker system. ie - bug, feature request, patch, etc. For instance, I cant tell you how many times I saw pe...

Re: Is there a Linux app for (de)scrambling binaries?

It is a Dreamcast binary (de)scrambler. If you know how to build sdisos, could you use it to unscramble the binary used in the iso?

I'm trying to put together a tutorial on creating sdiso images, and I'd like a Linux method not requiring Wine. This should be the last tool needed.

Re: Is there a Linux app for (de)scrambling binaries?

Most people don't distribute Linux binaries, since different versions of libraries can break things. I would have thought a simple binary wouldn't need dependencies, or at the very least could use a few static libs. For instance, FamilyGuy's BinHack32 Linux binary has worked across several 32, and ...

Re: FAQ or tutorial for burning multiple BOR on one disc ??

Yes, this way works. But why we have to do it that way with hacking? Why there is no simple (or advanced :) ) internal *.bor loader to load off cd and sd. It would be really much easier for people unfamiliar with inducer or other menu system. Why doesn't someone ask at the actual developer's site? ...

Is there a Linux app for (de)scrambling binaries?

Hi. Does anyone know of any Linux apps that can scramble, or descramble, homebrew Dreamcast binaries? I looked into Fackue's bin checker app. Unlike the Windows version, it appears the Linux version can only tell you the state of the binary, but not modify it. http://dchelp.dcemulation.org/downloads/

Re: FAQ or tutorial for burning multiple BOR on one disc ??

With some creative hex editing, and selfboot inducer, one could probably create a custom multi-mod disc. There wouldn't be any options to return to the menu though. Another alternative would be simply buying an sd adapter for the DC. There are cr*ploads of verified working Dreamcast sdiso images out...

Rectangular Battle - In Space

Rectangle Battle is an oldschool space-shooter with a 2 player vs. mode. You can have fun by aiming at high scores in 1 player survival mode or enjoy a quick match with a friend. Beware the evil triangles ;)! wnsIypRJCi4 This is a very simple game and was originally a university programming project...

Re: My NTSC-U Dreamcast won't read discs.

Have you tried cleaning off the laser very carefully? Although potentially damaging if done incorrectly, you could also google how to modify the potentiometer (aka 'pot' tweaking) . As a last resort, there are specific cd-r lenses that will work as replacements for DC lenses, but they only allow cd-...

Re: Doom for the DC v1.2

The keyboard controls are assigned to default with no way to configure. This makes it hard to setup a WADS config for move/strafe. The mouse has forward and backward assigned to pushing the mouse forward or backward which can make aiming with the mouse less than ideal. If you have a DC mouse or key...

Re: Kung Fu Factory's "Girl Talk" port to Dreamcast

Even if they were motivated enough to port this, how could they short of using the official development libraries?

There's no way this could be accomplished with any free, open source, homebrew dev environment. The question is whether they would be willing to forgo the legalities...

Re: Did I order a duff SD card reader?

Mine is seated in as far as it can physically go, so I guess I'm simply one of the unlucky ones who got a non-working device. There's bound to a failure rate on manufacturing these, but I wonder how high it is. Considering I can't even be assured if I ordered another it would work, I won't bother. I...

Re: Did I order a duff SD card reader?

Sorry for the monster bump, but I have the exact same model SD adapter. For some reason I can't get it to work. It's fully seated, and I didn't have to jam it in. I've verified the SD card is working, and formatted to fat16. But... neither the SD loader, or File browser in Dreamshell show the adapte...
