The industry sure needs a unified memory standard. I'm personally forced to use three different types of mutually-incompatible card!

If so, I recommend Dystopia
It does indeed. Presumably it'll run any HL2 mod which doesn't depend on content from CS:S, DoD, etc.

Oh sure, if you've bought one of the HL2 packs or Ep. 1 then you'll already have both of those but for the rest of us it's an alright freebie

Sonic's "rings lost" sound makes a decent ringtone. It's subtle enough to sound like a real ringer but still pretty distinctive.

I'm keeping the MGS "huh?" ! sound as my text alert though.

Re: Surround Sound on PC

The way I got it now, it's hooked up through one of those cables, standard headphone plugin on one end, RCA connectors on the other. You're gonna need three (!) of those cables. One for front left/right; one for surround left/right and another for centre/sub: http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/2586...

Try running something that will work your CPU really hard, perhaps try running a demanding game for a while and see if it freezes quickly. * Check connections to hard drives, power connections, etc * Make sure that you have no overclocking options switched on * Perhaps you have some faulty ram, ind...

Well they've mostly fixed the VGA colour issue and for that, I'm thankful. I don't care about the marketplace or messenger though.

Please, check your PC & Video Card manual or manufacturer to make sure that your VGA card has TV-Out function capability through the VGA connector to ensure this cable will work for you! You'd should really check but to be honest it all sounds a bit strange to me. To provide a TV output your ca...

Everything else is part of the Silver version. None of this is remotely related to online play. It's just a marketing gimmick to make the paid part of Live seem more valuable , and to make any competitors who don't offer a unified service seem primitive by comparison, no matter if their competitors...

If it's on his dollar you might as well just do it. At the very least it'll be resume fodder should you go for another IT job.

I been trying to beta test that as well. I got TVU though and that is awesome. Its basically free cable. Man if the quality of content available from your cable provider is anywhere near the channels on TVU I'm glad you're not paying for it. Are the 'popular' stations still a blurry, jittery mess?

You'll want the dedicated video card for the DVI outputs. I've used plenty of those Hanns-G displays and the image quality you get from running them with standard VGA is.. ehh, not so good. DVI is fine however.

edit: that is, of course, unless the onboard chipsets come with DVI-out.

Here's what I'd do:
Swap out the Lite-On combo drive for a DVD multi burner. There's only a $5 difference.
Ditch the CPU cooler. AMD's retail boxed CPUs come with a pretty decent one.
Swap the video card for one with dual DVI outputs.
