The Great Hardware Debate (AMD vs. Intel)
I want to hear opinions from either side. And keep Mac/G5 out of this, everyone knows they have their niche.
My opinion?
AMD is dominant.
Currently? Paired up with an nForce2-based Motherboard and Dual-Channel DDR, you have a rock solid gaming platform.
Future? AMD Athlon64 paired with nForce3-based Motherboard.
64 bits is the future, and AMD has the right implementation. It's a superior product, running 32 and 16 bit code natively (unlike Intel's 'Itanic').
Microsoft will be providing free AMD64 support to its current Windows Server 2003, and has Windows XP Professional support ready for the Athlon64 launch.
Epic Games has UT 2003 ported, and VALVe is looking to put HL2 out the door with AMD64 support also. Doom III support is still anyones guess, but I hear John Carmack was spotted wearing an AMD shirt while coding one day...
Linux support is solid. 2.5 dev kernel has it, and 2.6 stable will have it eventually. Both RedHat and SuSE are providing solid support.
Hardware? nVidia, VIA, and SiS will be debuting chipsets for the Athlon64, and many motherboard manufacturers have boards in the works.
What does all this translate into? AMD will be powering the fastest computers on the market.

AMD definetly gives more for ones money, as far as performance goes. And isn't that what is important?

AMD! YEAH! and the bus is 1/2 the clockrate for the Athlon64!
(2GHz Proc = 1GHz Bus, etc, etc)

What a nerd-fest.
Lets argue over which one of us has less of a girlfriend.
Ignorance is running rampant over at your household. Perhaps your parents are cousins?

jebus, u guys r all wrong...well actually it depends...if u want RAW power then Intel is the way to go..bang/buck goes to AMD...however the P43ghz800fsb not P43.06ghz533fsb is cheaper then the AMD Athlon Barton 3200+ and is also faster...lower end though AMD is the way to go......so if you got the money to spare go for a intel if not a AMD...also don't buy a AMD so soon because when the Athlon64 comes out the XP's should drop in price...
P.S.
Also Intel 875 w/ P43ghz -CAINS- a nFORCE2u400 w/ XP3200+
(Both using same pheripherals...sources from Atomic Mag for those in aus)
