Copper Swapper Version 0.50 released

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

ATani wrote: Currently slated for 0.52:
-- new intro, pre title screen (50% Done)
-- "press start" now fades in/out on title screen (100% Done)
-- removed custom plx/tsu code, now exclusively using BZ2Texture (100% Done)
The above has been completed, I have posted 0.52 to the website for others to pick up. Note there is a license change in 0.52 now.

I tried 0.52 and I get the same problem I described with 0.51, you didn't mention it in the changelog, but I assume you did remove the dcload disable line, right?

If so, I guess that wasn't the problem.

I assume you've been testing these binaries. How are you loading them? Just on a selfbooting disc by themselves?

I'm using an NTSC system (I don't think that's the problem, PAL games show up on my TV, but they roll a lot) and a TV not a VGA monitor. On interesting thing: usually when a game crashes in Dream Hakker, you're taken back to the Dream Hakker menu, but Copper Swapper just freezes on a black screen.

Has anyone else got it working yet? I'll try putting it in Dream Inducer or maybe selfbooting it on its own in a couple days.

Yup in 0.52 dcload should work fine.

I only test via dc-tool. I do not have a lot of CDRs to waste on selfboot, but there are others that have had success with selfboot.

I did see this behavior and I think I have it fixed, it is likely related to the VMU loading code getting into an endless loop.. I have since changed the code around and fixed remaining VMU issues, for 0.53 that is.

I tried it today with DreamInducer (I created my own SBI, and yes! I finally got another DC!). Like SweaterFish, I got a black screen and it just froze there. I'm not sure what the problem. I had 1 controller plugged in with no VMU or anything else plugged into the controller.

All I got to work was 0.50, Chris. You should try that one.

I am going to release 0.53 soon, it will have new VMU code which does not cause these hangs.

This is getting pretty ridiculous. Why, oh why, didn't I just burn 0.50?

He's working on a fix. After he fixed one thing more things started giving him problems. Hopefully he can figure it out before long.

I am sure you can understand this one....

My normal day job has been hell lately and I have not spent any time whatsoever on any of my side projects at all...

That said... I do have a new version but will not be releasing it yet as there is one very large bug in it which needs to be squished first... I am waiting for input from Dan Potter on the fix as it falls into his area mostly..

On the other hand, the next release of CS will be multiplatform. I will send out DC, Linux, and Mac OS-X releases. Since I am rewriting the code from scratch existing source code will remain published but future versions may not.

As news becomes available I will post it..
