Record of Lodoss War

Post by Darkfalz »

Any other ROLW fans out there? I considered this my fave DC RPG after Skies and Grandia II (not really counting Shenmue).

Love the weapons, love the story, love the graphics.

A mighty spell!

(One gripe, disposable pickaxes... such a pain!)

I am.

I have a nice savegame, with both dragons slain (Green Dragon and Narse), lotsa stuff in a legitimate (no codes - Gameshark,CodeBreaker etc) near-the-end (just have to kill the last boss - Kardis incarnation) game.

It's a very good game!

I loved it soooo much. I never finished getting the armor, but i fought those sand worm things a whole lot for a while hehe. I liked the way that the weapon system worked though. runes and whatnot. Now I'm considering going home and getting my copy of it. (maybe i should, with the rest of my DC games)

Most armors and others(Helmets, shields, some swords) you can get in the cold caves, lv. 6 and 7.

Yep I've spent many hours exploring the cold caves looking for more ancients )()( Though I must confess, the occasional use of a Codebreaker just for unlimited pickaxes...

Pickaxes are just 20$.... the only problem is that they are good for one use only.

Ah, try finding in Cold Caves lv 6 or 7 the "Revive as mithrill" ancient (sword special ancient). Almost all enemies (except the medusa) on the cold caves drop 500 meseta when killed. It helps a lot improving equipment.

The best way to lv up is killing the giant sandworms. I've leveled up to lv100 on them. You can kill a lot of worms, exit the level and then repeat. (just don't kill the giant one).

I'm interested, what exactly is it that makes this game so special?

I'm going to do some online research now as well, but it's always nice to hear opinions from others :)

It plays basically like Diablo/II. Isometric view small sprite real time battling rpg. The biggest difference is the weapon system. Basically thoguhout the game you only really need one weapon, and you modify it by adding runes and whatnot to it.

I just got my copy from home =). Now to download my old save from my pc to my vmu...

Cool sound, enemies, story, graphics, music, cool way you wear the armour (and capes!), always new ancients to find... a mighty spell!

I've been looking around for this one, but no dice. I don't care for ebay, and you never know what condition you are going to get with most of the game stores online.

Yeah, is a great game - well worth the ?4 I spent on it in Gamestation! One of those games where I'd suddenly notice that the sun has come up outside my window!

Loved the ending, such a turn of events :}

This game was definitely a sleeper hit. Unfortunately, I lost my finished game save file which really really bites. However, I still have the game. After loving the game, I bought both of the anime box sets and loved the game even that much more. If you haven't seen it, check it out.
