Devcast Updates (ALBUMS ARE UP)

After a small pm to Prophet][, I have been added to the staff at devcast. So I need a little help in making it a little better.

I am aware that the overclock mod video is a broken link. If anyone has the mod video downloaded to their computer somewhere, I would appreciate it if you could upload it somewhere for me, even for a little while, so that it may be transfered onto some stable hosting.

If there are any other broken links, please let me know via pm.

New Mods
-----------------------------
I am accepting any and all new mods one can think of. If it is not on the site and you have a walkthrough (with pictures), then you are well neigh guaranteed a spot on the site.

Existing Mods
-----------------------------
Exisitng mods (such as paint jobs) will be accepted and added to the relevant place. If you have a completed walkthrough for a mod already discussed on the website that you feel is more complete (ie. your walkthrough has pictures and the one already up doesn't, or your mod goes about it in a different way), then send it my way (make a word document or a quick'n'dirty html page, or just send the info in an annotated text file with everything else attached).

Utilities

If there is anything of value that might help future modders (such as a voltage calculator) and you code it/found it, please let me know via pm so it can be added.

They will be integrated into the existing template within a few days, and a new template may be forthcoming. See my last post at the bottom for more details.

I'm really sorry for not updating a lot. If you noticed I went away for quiet some time, and lost everything on my old computer. Also I belive Invisix might have the OC video.

Hmm... well I might as well forward you all the pictures I've been sent too. Jeez... I started the site a *long* time ago it seems like now... ah the good ol' days. Now all I do is lurk.... hmph. Oh well, glad to see someone else has decided to take up devcast and continue it on

I was planning to add them one by one, and I guess I should have added the email to use.

My poor dialup connection... At least there is a place I knwo where I can get all the mods quickly.

Yeah, I marked them all as spam, and have been downloading them little by little. I have the majority of them now (not the movies, though), but keep the emails around just in case.

I am going to see what I can do about the site situation. If someone can email me the information about the current msyql database, as well as perhaps blanking it for me from phpMyAdmin so I can implement Wordpress, then that would be great.

Otherwise, I am going to have to see how to make the best damn css file ever.

I hope so.

Since it looks like I can't really setup a database, and am waiting to see whether I can blank the old one, I will start on a new system. Unfortunately, I do not know how I will incorporate comments, but we shall see.

If I could set up one new database, it would go straight into a Gallery2 installation, which would greatly ease adding mods and commenting on them. But we will see.

Well, just to update everyone, since I want something nice and not buggy, I will just find something that works from Hotscripts. I have been installing and deleting new gallery systems all day to see what works. I was very close with the JV2 Folder Gallery, but it gave me exif_read errors when viewing a photo.

I am trying twg atm, but the Enhanced Simple Photo Gallery might also work.

After I get through with the gallery, I will be working on the news system. Hopefully I can somehow migrate everything, even if it has to be done manually.

I have managed to get a gallery working without any database on the server. I will be uploading pictures and moving stuff shortly, although the old gallery will stay in place. Expect that to be up by monday.

The gallery is going up. Be warned that it may take me a while because it is 8MB+ of files, or 198 pictures, all resized into 800x640 (or as close to that) in jpg. I also have some other pics waiting in the wings, so when I get this first batch up, I will begin putting up those pics, and then scouring the internet for other gallery's.

It should all be up by tonight, and if not, I will post a link to the gallery anyways. I have yet to embed the gallery, so for now, it is standalone.

There are 61 different albums, with the largest being 800KB and the smallest being a little over 10KB. Some have up to 20 photos, but there are many with only 1 or 2.

Let's all get excited!

As of right now, there is no way to place a comment for the pictures, or rating. Some albums may also be named incorrectly, and that will be rectified in a few days. Descriptions for each picture are currently unavailable, although that will be rectified within a few weeks.

There are currently only a very small portion of the pictures missing, and I will try and see if I can get another copy of them from somewhere (they were downloaded wrong on my dialup connection). The gallery also defaults to the first album, although you can navigate. I hope to have the thing integrated into a site (for which the news may or may not be coming soon, depending on whether I can figure it out or not). If anyone would like to come up with a nice new php template for us, then that would be great. Otherwise, it will be a slow integration.

For now, enjoy the albums!

After a discussion with Zerotype, we have decided to keep both albums (the new and the old) and allow people to choose which they want to surf.

The status of the news is not yet determined. Also not yet determined is the status of the template.
