Pics and tech info

Post by TheDumbAss »

Heres some pics of a dreamcast (liquid cooled), controler, keyboard, gameshark 'vmu', and a few other peripherals taken apart. Some are close ups.

Also included is a couple pics of a DC with a blue LED, a pic of the Naomi arcade board, and some interesting things about the dreamcast dev kit.

Some of the pictures in the dev folder seem to actually be scans from the dev kit's manual. Dev kit folder may also have some info some coders may be interested in... bit I doubt it.

I'm not possitive... but judging by a few of the things I've read the guy who's site it is may have helped work on the planetweb browser. (step by step progress log)

Anyway... heres the link
http://douglas.min.net/~drw/dreamcast/hardware/

A few silly things are there... like a pic of a (prototype?) controller with a ROUND start button...

For even better pics of the DC's innards, refer to a link posted by me some time ago:

Here's the post:

Here's the link:

http://www.portelligent.com/samples.asp

It's a big .PDF file, (Mb.) You only have to register, but the document is free. It's a teardown report, which means it's a description with photos of a DC being taken apart.

There are great professional pics of the DC's circuit boards, GD drive, modem and controllers, it even has parts descriptions and some specs!

Look for it, it will be woth your while, I guarantee it.

I assume you wanna mod it to use a PC water-cooling set...

Well the ones above are actually the first dreamcasts, which was liquid cooled standard.

One of my Dreamcasts is one of the early ones with the heatpipe cooling assembly as well.
