My blue glow around lid...

Post by gamefreak701 »

I've seen this image before at the top of DCumulation a bunch of times. it's a DC and the lid has a sweet glow comming out from it. I wanted to make this so I gave it a shot. Here is the work so far.

Please ignore the crap window job on the lid. this is my mod testing DC.

That gap between the lid and body allows for a nice effect. Good work!

Yea, that is my kind of test DC. So the window was my first time using my dremel.

Now the DC is just being used to see if I can get that glow effect. Then I am gonna do that to my good DC.

Looks really cool, often thought about modding a DC to glow like the one on DevCast. I like the window on the side as well. What did you use to light it up?

Image - lid

As you can see on the lid I had to cut the edges off, except one part where it locks down.

This is so the light can shine threw.

PS: Can someone find me a list of DC games for US/Canada? I can't seem to find mine. Thanks!

hehe

I see, I remember when I was doing the nightlight mod, I had the problem of the lid closing down on the LED's so I moved em somewhere towards the front. I might try it out, I haven't modded a system in awhile, maybe ill find an empty shell for this on ebay.

I like it so far. The nite lite mod was the first mod that I came across on devcast when I registered. Loved its look, but have yet to try. Mostly cause I have yet to even mod a single console.

Anyway, for your next mod you should put some leds in the top of the controller ports like people are doing with their boxes. :D

The edges really need to be cleaned up. I know it's not something that everyone sees when the lid is closed, but it could be cleaned up very easily with a sanding bit on a dremel. I'm working on something similar now and there is nothing like taking your time to get it looking just right.
